Le Grand Maitre Franco et Jolie Detta 'Massu' (1986)

This album is commonly known as 'Massu' due to the big hit song from the album which made its singer Jolie Detta a reluctant star.

Two of the songs on this album 'Cherie Okamuisi Ngai' and 'Likambo Ya Somo Lumbe' appear never to have been released outside of this LP release.

We think this is simply one of the best LP's Franco released in the latter years of his life. Jolie Detta's singing is sublime, as is the multi-layered guitar playing.

  2. Thank you for this exquisite posting. Such a great album. Would you consider encoding at a higher rate to make the full brilliance of the music available (320 works well)?

I write about compression loss here:

    Enjoy.

  3. I'm sorry Rhythm Connection but our internet connection is too slow to upload at a higher rate. The best way to get the real sound is to do like we do and buy the vinyl

  4. Jollie Detta is just strikingly beautiful and has a beautiful voice.Am so shocked in 1986 when she sang this song she was only 18 years old. I was 4 years old in 1986. Whenever, I hear these songs I feel very nostalgic. Golden oldies with a message unlike songs of nowadays. GOD Bless all of us
